Waking up in Du Sable Harbor Chicago
Description:
I had just gotten up from bed the morning of November 3rd 2007. We were taking a trip from our home port to where we were planning to store it for the winter. Reason we waited so long to put her away was that I was waiting for my wife to give birth to my son!

Summer trip to Grand Haven from:Dotcomd

Summer trip to Grand Haven
Description:
Here I'm finally getting into the Grand River in Grand Haven Michigan. I felt like a total idiot. I had gone about 45 minutes to an hour north of where I was supposed to go. Before I left, I had no waypoints on my gps of where I was to end up. So when I left Kenosha, I looked at my sheet of gps waypoints down below and tried to remember the coordinates. So at about 2 hours and 15 minutes, I stopped because I still couldn't see land and checked it again. I was supposed to go to 86 degrees 15 min 22.03 seconds longitude and 43 degrees 03 minutes 26.58 seconds Latitude. I went to 43 deg 15 min 22 sec north and 86 deg 03 min 26 sec west. So that put me about 20 miles north west of the harbor entrance. And as you can see from the tone of the weather, it was starting to cloud up and get nasty looking. As I said in another video post, this was the day that several boaters on the Big Bad Lake Michigan lost their boats.

American Beauty Moment... from:Dotcomd

American Beauty Moment...
Description:
Here I was having one of those "American Beauty" moments like that kid in the movie with the plastic bags. I was sitting in my boat on the seawall in Grand Haven watching the boat rise and fall next to the seawall and just thinking about how beautiful it was. While it only lasted a several seconds, I still feel the same when I watch it.

Coast Guard Fest 2006 b4 fireworks show from:Dotcomd

Coast Guard Fest 2006 b4 fireworks show
Description:
This was the end of the week raft off of boats in the Grand River in Grand Haven Michigan. We were so lucky, we were passing by and were luckily invited into the tie up by the people on our port side which were already there. Nice bunch of people. The people one the shore number about a million. you can't even see the grass on the shore here. People mark their spots for days in advance to reserve a spot on the hill for the fireworks show. This is a show to be seen. It usually goes for anywhere between 45 minutes and an hour. And it's pretty darn good. The year before, the caught the hill on fire! THE HILL, THE HILL, THE HILL IS ON FIRE, WE DON'T NEED THE WATER LET THE MOTHER @#$%ER BURN! Thats what everyone was signing that night. It was pretty funny.

Grand Haven Return trip in 2005 from:Dotcomd

Grand Haven Return trip in 2005
Description:
The boat had broken down on the river in front of several hundred boats. The drive was stuck in the forward position. The throttle would move back and forth and work the trottle, but would not go back to Neutral or Reverse. I was in the middle of manuvering in between a whole bunch of boats when the boat wouldn't go into reverse. So to avoid hitting several other boats, I killed the ignition and coasted into a spot on the beach. I called the company I bought my boat from and reported that "it had happened again" and that they should come get it and fix it or prepare a check for me as this was the 5th time it had happened that summer. A new office/shop of theirs in Grand Haven picked up the boat, and took it apart. There were 3 pieces all totalling $18.50 in parts which were totally worn out and had no business being in a boat anymore as they put it. This was the last time I had this problem. In any case, here I was just leaving Grand Haven to go back home.

Grand Haven Return trip in 2005 from:Dotcomd

Grand Haven Return trip in 2005
Description:
Here you can see that I'm running pretty good and still hitting some big swells/waves. I'm doing about 32/33 mph which was a good cruising speed for my boat(max 44 mph). To get an idea of how big the waves were look at how the boat is splitting them as I hit them. It was very cool! This is one of my favorite videos from this boat.

Grand Haven Return trip in 2005 YEEHAA!!! I see land!!! from:Dotcomd

Grand Haven Return trip in 2005 YEEHAA!!! I see land!!!
Description:
I had been cruising for about 2 hours at this point and I could just make out the land below the clouds in the distance. I was feelign pretty good about it. The way over, which we have no video from, we were in the biggest swells I have ever had the pleasure of riding. The bulk of them were 6-8 footers out of the south which kept turning the boat, and then 10-14 footers going north east which were were able to run in the same direction. Occasionally we'd get stuck between a couple of swells and have to wait for the next one to pick us up from behind. In the trough of the swell, the top of the wave behind us would be a few - several feet above the top of the radar arch on the back of the boat. IT WAS COOL!!!

Leg 4 of Return Trip from Grand Haven from:Dotcomd

Leg 4 of Return Trip from Grand Haven
Description:
It had been 2 hours or so and I hadn't seen a soul on the water. And about 8-10 miles from Illinois, I saw this wierd wedge shaped thing pushing through the water. I guess it's some sort of steel fishing vessel. You couldn't see anyone, there was just a ton of birds on top of the boat with a ton of birdy do do... Other than this, there were no other boats I saw this day...

Trip to Chicago July 3rd 2005
Description:
Before this video was taken/shot, we were braveing some pretty big swells north of Winnetka. Every 3rd to 5th swell was getting us all drenched. We were going to Chicago for the Independence Day Fireworks show. The show however was a major disappointment. It only lasted about 15-18 minutes. When it ended we kepth sitting there waiting for it to continue.
